“Life is much less important than art, but what a poor life without art.” Robert Motherwell
Loretta Howard Gallery presents a series of installations of art in homes and interiors. In this installation, curated by Rottet Studio and towering above midtown Manhattan, the art compliments the city below. These particular works were chosen to bring warmth and humanity to the interior while not competing with the extraordinary views outside.
Living with art is an entirely different experience than viewing works in galleries and museums. Scale shifts and changes in unexpected ways and new conversations between the artwork and its environment take place. Experiencing a work of art at different times of day, in different light, changes the aesthetic experiences. At home, we return to a painting again and again, noticing new aspects of its spirit and feeling each time.
